Heat Pump Definition

A heat pump is a machine or device that moves heat from one location (the 'source') at a lower temperature to another location (the 'sink' or 'heat sink') at a higher temperature using mechanical work or a high-temperature heat source. The difference between heat pumps and normal air conditioners is that heat pumps can be used to provide heating or cooling. Even though the heat pumps can heat, they still use the same basic refrigeration cycle to do this. In other words heat pumps can change which coil is the condenser and which the evaporator. This is normally achieved by a reversing valve. In cooler climates it is common to have heat pumps that are designed only to provide heating.

Common examples are food refrigerators and freezers, air conditioners, and reversible-cycle heat pumps for providing building space heating. In heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, a heat pump normally refers to a vapor-compression refrigeration device that includes a reversing valve and optimized heat exchangers so that the direction of heat flow may be reversed. Most commonly, heat pumps draw heat from the air or from the ground.

The Development History of Water Heaters

1. The first generation: high-power gas water heater
There are several shortages of the high-power gas water heater. Firstly, the temperature and pressure of output water will be affected by climate conditions easily, so the water temperature is instable and can hardly be regulated. The second problem is that the combustion of gas consumes a huge amount of energy and exhausts much poisonous waste gas at the same time. In addition, the service life of the high-power gas water heater is short.
 
2. The second generation: high-power electric water heater
This kind of water heater mainly has two disadvantages. The first one is resulted from the high energy consumption. There is a large possibility of electric leakage, which may harm the users, and insufficient water storage. What’s more, the water temperature is so high that it will make the tank insideseriously scaled and reduce the service life of high-power electric water heater.
 
3. The third generation: solar energy water heater
Theoretically, this is the most energy-efficient water heater. However, actually, in the rainy or cloudy days or the winter of the north, the solar energy water heater must be operated with the assist of an extra electric power. This extra power system serves as a huge electric water heater which hides serious security issues. Because of the open-type system of the solar energy water heater, the pressure of hot water completely depends on altitude difference. As a result, the degree of comfort is not good enough. In addition, the vacuum tubes, which are commonly used by general the solar energy water heater, are quite frangible, and the maintenance of it will bother you too much.
 
4. The fourth generation: air source heat pump water heater
The price of air source heat pumps water heater is high, but the functions of it are not simple. Aimed at the existing situation, we know that this product can transfer the heat from the air into the water tank. Then it heats the water and exhausts the cooling air, which lose a quantity of energy, into the kitchen at the same time. When the air loses energy, its temperature will fall and a quantity of steam will condense. As a result, the humidity of the cooling air will be reduced.
